In context, David was hopeful that Jehovah would judge Saul in due time, as he knew he (David) was in the right. I think there is an account where David realises that Jehovah will judge Saul eventually so he knows justice will out. But the suggestion in this video is simply to put up with it. -

God's Inception Style Punishment of Toddlers
by Simon inthis is a follow up to jehovah kicks a puppy about the garden of eden / serpent myth and the punishment for disobeying god.. anyone who has had kids knows that that they need to be taught what is right and what is wrong.
it's no point trying to discipline them if they have't learnt the rules first - they simply and fundamentally don't know something is wrong so punishing them in anyway is just asshole parenting of the worst kind.. i.e.
toddlers draw on the wall, that's what they do.

But even if they did not fully understand why it was wrong, they were told that it was wrong. They didn't need to do it to get the point. Ok, once they had done it they realised their mistake, but the argument is that they should have trusted that God was warning them for a good reason. -

A form of healing?
by New day init has been mentioned on here by quite a few posters that when they let go of the pressure of living up to the standards set out in the wt publications, they felt relief from a strangulating set of rules and regulations which do not truly reflect the kindness and love displayed by jesus.. as more than a year has gone by since i first read the ray franz books and started reading posts here, i recently stepped back and thought about how i now feel.
having always been a boy who can't say no (theocratically speaking) i have just now realized that, yes, i can refuse talks in the tms if i either can't do them or (gasp) don't want to do them.
just last week a well-meaning but misguided elder put me down to take a fs arrangement without asking me, despite the fact that i resigned as an elder last year and had asked for the pressure to be taken off.

Nice idea. My wife is also going through huge trauma from relentless pressure of being a Witness for the last forty years. She has almost opted out due to psychological trauma even though she is a true believer. She almost blew her top when the TMS overseer suggested she be a householder on the school, even though I had point blank told him she could not take the pressure. He does not get it at all. -

I used to feel I would let others down if I didn't rise to the challenge of doing all assignments. Reminds me of the saying "the graveyards are full of indispensable people." -

He is trying to co-opt me back into the arrangements so that I will go back as an elder, but I am resisting! "The truth will set you free."

Candace Conti - Consequence for Elders
by The Searcher inbodies of elders around the world will soon (tm) receive a nicely worded letter from the christian congregation of jehovah's witnesses, telling them that local elders are now responsible for ensuring that no perverts are allowed to be alone with any children on any kind of witness business, otherwise, the boe will be accountable to the courts - not the org!.
however, if the elders are aware that bro.
& sister oblivious sometimes ask bro.

I resigned as an elder some months ago for different reasons, it didn't have anything to do with possible legal issues for elders, but glad that I am not on that treadmill anymore. I agree with subytrek that it all takes too much time away from family. I think the words an elder's wife most fears at the end of a meeting are "sorry but we have to have a quick meeting." An hour later, maybe two hours later she is still cooling her heels, pretending to be self sacrificing as she freaks out internally with the stress of waiting yet again for her husband as he discusses something apparently so super important that it must be done RIGHT NOW.

Memorial talk wt escape clause
by prologos in" --only those in the kingdom covenant were served the bread & wine by jesus--" ---false!
this phrase switches from the forgiveness of sin part to the exclusive anointed club section of the memorial talk, and it is false because: the kingdom covenant was done after the passover was done.
and the promise of thrones and judging israel in math 19:28 was not a covenant but an assurance.

If it is going to be an earthly kingdom with earthly rulers, what happens to the 144,000 who are depicted in Rev. as being in heaven "before the throne"? And for that matter, the great crowd, as they are all "before the throne" as well? -

All the changes
by vinman inare their any newer people here, who recently found out ttatt, who has been disturbed by all the new changes in the organization?
it is turning into something that feels impersonal.
i know change is good.

What caused me to start thinking were all the recent changes. The identity of the fads, the insistence on the mad overlapping generation teaching, the change in accounting procedures and contributions with the 'forgiving' of mortgages replaced by an everlasting contribution. I was an elder up to not so long ago but now I am on the sidelines. -

She revealed that she had been deeply hurt by bros and sis reactions to her as she has not been to meetings for a while due to physical and emotional probs. When she meets JWs in the street they cannot cope with her and are often very cool towards her. JWs cannot deal with psychological problems as they usually ascribe it to lack of faith. She does not doubt that it is "the truth" but sees some of the flaws. She would not agree with me that the revised generation teaching is a very serious issue. She feels that somehow Jehovah is testing us by allowing humans to make mistakes and then correcting them. She had no answer when I asked her how is Jehovah going to correct the generation teaching? For me it is all about the doctrine.
